Whether you want to celebrate by yourself or with family members, there's a New Year's Day celebration that will surely suit your tastes.

Columbus Day

Columbus Day is celebrated across the Americas on October 12 which is the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival into the New World. The holiday is celebrated as an official national holiday in many of the nations of the Americas and as a national festival in United States.

Martin Luther King Jr. day

Every year on the third Monday in January, Americans commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday in honor that civil right leader and activist. Born 1929 in the United States, King is a renowned champion of equality for all races and nonviolent civil resistance. He also worked to end legal segregation and was a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Today, we are encouraged to think about his legacy and the ideals that he fought for, such as non-violence and equality of race.

Thanksgiving

A Thanksgiving day was initially observed by colonists living in New England in the early 1800s, to mark an opportunity for prayer and gratitude for the blessings of our nation. In 1777 an act of U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed the holiday as a national one, but it was left to the actual declaration of the holiday in the hands of the states following. So, Southerners were in a lull to adopt this holiday and some even objected to the celebration being used to hold partisan parades and speeches.

Christmas

The Christmas season is a time to commemorate Christ's birth Christ. The celebrations of Christmas include the giving of gifts to family and friends. The custom of gift-giving goes back to the 15th century. In addition, gifts are a way to express gratitude for God's gifts of Jesus to the world. Thanksgiving Day is the national holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada. It is also celebrated in Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia. It began as an opportunity to show gratitude to the previous year's harvest. Similar celebrations of the festival are held throughout Japan also Germany.
