Tradition of giving gifts is rooted in the fifteenth century. The gifts are an expression of gratitude for God's present of Jesus to humanity. A poem composed by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a significant religious connection. The saint of Saint Nicholas is also linked to the Christmas season. It was his name that was associated with a bishop from the first Christian Church in Asia Minor, who left toys for children as well gold in the stockings of children.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is the national holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada. It is also celebrated by the people of Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia.
