A holiday is a celebration of an important event. They may be celebrated on different dates throughout the year, or may have a scheduled date each year. However, regardless of the origins of an event, most people celebration it in a particular time or season. There are many kinds of holidays, that's why we've listed the most commonly observed ones here.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is the last day of the year when people celebrate that Jesus was born. Jesus. Many people celebrate this day by sharing gifts and gathering with friends and family. Also, it is the day when people decorate the Christmas Tree is decorated, especially in European countries.

Diwali

Diwali marks the Hindu festival of lights. In Hinduism lights symbolize goodness This is why throughout the day people use lamps to symbolize good luck. The festival also celebrates the folk art of Rangoli and has been believed to originated with the people of Maharashtra. Rangoli is a vibrant pattern made from different colored materials that is laid out on the floor. They believe it can bring good fortune and guard homes against evil spirits.

New Year's Day

New Year's Day is one many of the biggest events of the year , and festivities are held all over the world. Many cities have big parades which attract the attention of all over the world. The choice is yours whether you're celebrating by yourself or with family members, there's a New Year's Day celebration that will certainly suit your taste.

Columbus Day

Columbus Day is celebrated across the Americas on the 12th of October it is the date of Christopher Columbus's first visit to the New World. The holiday is celebrated as an official national holiday in many different countries in the Americas and as a national annual holiday for the United States.

Martin Luther King Jr. day

Every year, on the third Monday of January, Americans are able to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the federal holiday that honors the memory Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights activist and activist. King was born in 1929. King had a significant champion of equality for all races and nonviolent civil disobedience. King also fought against legal segregation and was a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. On this day, the public are encouraged to consider his legacy and the ideals the man fought for, like non-violence and equality of race.

Thanksgiving

An early Thanksgiving festival was held by the people of the colony of New England in the early eighteenth century, as a day of worship and gratitude for the nation's blessings. In 1777 in 1777 the U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed it a national holiday but decided to leave the actual declaration of the holiday up to the states afterwards. So, Southerners were not quick to embrace this tradition as well as some objected to the use of the day for parades and speeches by partisans.

Christmas

The Christmas season is a time to celebrate God's birthday Christ. Celebrations around Christmas involve the giving of gifts to family and friends. Giving gifts is rooted in the fifteenth century. Furthermore, the gifts are a symbol of gratitude for God's offering of Jesus to mankind. A poem written by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a deep connection to religion. St. Nicholas is also associated with the Christmas holiday. His name is a reference to a bishop from the first Christian Church in Asia Minor, who left gifts for children and gold in the stockings of children.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is the national holiday in the United States and Canada. It is also observed on the islands of Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks to the previous year's harvest. Similar festivals are observed by people in Japan along with Germany.

The weather was great, the turnout even better. Each year, the day after thanksgiving, thousands of people stroll the streets of downtown red wing to experience a true, old fashion christmas. Tracy hardyman, downtown red wing board member and holiday stroll chair, says there is a great mix of new activities and old favorites on friday, november 26th.
